Welcome to Cichetti!
Cichetti (chi-KET-tee) is an Italian word which has it's origins in Venice. It means 'small bites of food with wine'.
We are a private dining facility that also offers gourmet cooking classes. We do not hold normal business hours, and all of our events are organized privately between our customers (YOU!) and the proprietor and Chef, Jill Hansen. So, please do not randomly visit our facility during normal business hours, as we will not be open. All events are organized privately - please phone Jill at (231) 855-4118 to plan your event!
We can accomodate events from 4 to 32 people. We will custom design your personal experience. Perhaps you would like complete cooking instruction for fresh pasta, desserts, sauces, or whatever you would like. Or, if you prefer, watch Jill prepare your entire meal while you enjoy fine wines from our wine list and enjoy the dining experience without any formal cooking 'classes'. It's all about you!
Thinking of a business event? We have hosted Christmas parties and other business events, as well as bridal showers, bachelorette parties, or just 'girls night out'. A truly personal experience!
We have music systems that you can run directly from your smartphone, with Audioengine products, so you control your musical preferences.
Come and experience the most personal gourmet dining experience in West Michigan.
A CULINARY EXPERIENCE
We have been blessed to have lived in Europe for 16 years. One of the great benefits of the many years of travel and life abroad was the chance to LIVE a culinary dream. Exploring the sights, texture, colors and liveliness of the indoor and outdoor fresh markets and then pulling it all together in an amazing meal was infinite pleasure. Learning from Chefs and restaurant owners from Agriturismos all over Italy, to Michelin 5 star restaurants was and still is my joy.
Since returning to the U.S. I have attended the Culinary Institute with Dean’s list status, joined “Slow Foods International”, The Jr. American Culinary Federation, the “Local Foods Organization”, Culinary Tourism International, and Fundraising and Entertainment Chair for “Friends of the Market”. All of this born not only of passion for real and local foods, but to better share my joy and experiences with you.
COME COOK WITH ME!
From absolute “can’t boil water”, to honing skills you already have. Artisanal breads, homemade pasta and sauces, French casseroles, and rustic desserts can be learned. Italian raviolis filled with homemade ricotta or the soup to die for all within your grasp.
How about a romantic dinner or a gourmet picnic for the beach? Or maybe you’d prefer to learn an amazing eggs benedict. You choose, or I choose.
The most important part of my cooking philosophy, however, is learning to cook “outside the box” literally and figuratively. We can include shopping excursions to the Farmer’s Market, and shop……
LOCAL! LOCAL! LOCAL!
Supporting Michigan, our local Farmers and purveyors; You won’t believe how good it tastes!
Sincerely, Chef Jill

MENU: To start: Surprise
Second: Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Bisque
Using the bounty of last summers’ harvest getting us through the long cold winter. This delightful bisque is rich but low in fat and high in all that’s good for us. Accompanied by a homemade low-fat herb Boursin cheese.
Next: To cleanse the palate, Michigan Cherry and white wine sorbet. Also from last summers’ market cherries. No fat and very little sugar, using agave. Aren’t we fortunate to have such a market! Take a minute, stretch, chat then on to the next course.
Entrée: Orechiette and house-made chicken and pork fennel pollen sausage. No lack of flavor here! Fresh and heart healthy. (additional cost for gluten free spaghetti. Notify ahead of time)
Dolce: Budino di Cantucci
I tried this dish at a high end Italian restaurant in Los Angeles and fell in love! This Italian pudding-like dessert melts in your mouth.
